PEOPLE PARTICIPATING

Project aims

The PEPA project aims at improving the local and regional governance by strengthening the role and participation of Civil Society Organisations to the social and cultural local agenda. This participation is also addressing the decision making processes for the elaboration of local strategic plans and similar policies.

Activities
  • The overall strategy (management, partnership, activities and dissemination) of the PEPA project is amended and validated during the Steering Committee session of the Kick off meeting. (February 2010).

  • A one day study visit is organised during the Kick off meeting by the Lead partner (February 2010)

  • A round table session is organised during the Kick off meeting with the participation of external experts. This event is organised by the Lead partner with the collaboration of the partnership. (February 2010)

  • The Lead partner selects two successful experiences of self organised community groups in Andalusia. A case study template is adapted to the investigation by the Lead partner. This tool is use for describing the best conditions for running social and cultural activities and the relationship with the local public authorities. Group sessions will be also organised by the University to gather the direct information from experts (first semester of 2010).

  • The Veneto region should perform a study on their participation system and regulation with CSOs and how they are applied in the region. A case study template is adapted to such investigation. One successful experiences of self organised community groups in the Veneto region (first semester of 2010).

  • Hampshire Economic Partnership will launch a consultation with community groups to ascertain the level of participation and consultation they feel in decision making with public authorities and examine the social and cultural results of this. The potential for learning and training key individuals to enhance their contribution to the decision making process will also be examined. A case study template is adapted to such investigation (first semester of 2010).

  • The British partner organised a Steering Committee in September in Hampshire including the validation of the regional studies. A one day study visit is also proposed by partner nš 3. (September 2010)

  • The PEPA partnership elaborates several publications on the regional and overall outputs. (second semester of 2010 and first one of 2011)

  • Synergies with the PEOPLE communication strategy and participation to the regional communication campaign and collaboration with the Blog system. (second semester of 2010)

  • The development of the policy recommendations report is shared by the 3 partners under the responsibility of the Lead partner. (last semester of 2010) Delivery of the Policy recommendations report (January 2011)

  • Application of the recommendations by the Veneto region and to Hampshire Economic Partnership. (first semester of 2011)

  • The University of Pablo de Olavide disseminates the report at educational level (masters, conferences). (first semester of 2011)

  • The Veneto region organised the last Steering Committee in coincidence with the international conference of sub-objective nš6. A presentation of the complete results and outputs of the PEPA project is included in the conference agenda. (June 2011)

  • The Lead partner produces the final report to the PEOPLE project. (June 2011)
 
News section

The People Participating (PEPA) sub-project held its Kick-off Meeting on the 27th of April 2010 in Seville.

The meeting was organised by the University Pablo de Olavide (UPO) with the collaboration of the Direzione Servizi Sociali Az.Ulss 13 of the Veneto region and the Hampshire Economic Partnership of the South East England region.

The PEPA project aims at improving the local and regional governance by strengthening the role and participation of the Civil Society Organisations (CSO) to the social and cultural local agenda.

The PEPA Kick off was a full day meeting including a Steering Committee Meeting in the morning, a thematic conference in the afternoon and a study visit in the evening, hosted by the University Pablo de Olavide (UPO).

The second People Participating  (PEPA) meeting took place in Southampton, UK, the 16th of November 2010. The meeting was organised & hosted by the Hampshire Economic Partnership  (HEP). It was a full day meeting including a Steering Committee Meeting in the morning and a Study Visit in the afternoon
