The Malopolska Region is hosting the PEOPLE Project’s 4th International Conference, which will take place on the 9th of March 2011 in Krakow. The topic, “Social entrepreneurship – it pays off!”, is related to PEOPLE’s sub-objective 5, “Social entrepreneurship”.

A number of key Polish and international experts are expected to participate in the conference. The opening session will present PEOPLE from the international point of view, as well as from the perspective of the Malopolska region. We will also show that social entrepreneurship, PEOPLE’s sub-objective 5, is in fact inherent to all themes of the interregional project.

The second session will focus on legal aspects of social entrepreneurship. Experts from PEOPLE’s Partner Regions will present regulations regarding social entrepreneurship in their countries. Anna Sienicka, who is actively participating in the process of drafting the act on social entrepreneurship, will talk about current and planned regulations in Poland. The session aims at finding out which regulations enhance social entrepreneurship and which pose unnecessary legal barriers.

It seems that the potential of social entrepreneurship tends to be underestimated in Malopolska. The conference provides a great opportunity to exchange experiences and encourage policy makers to support this valuable field of activity.

Those who cannot participate in person are invited to join us online, by watching the conference live at http://peopleproject.eu/video.php. You are also most welcome to contribute to the conference through Twitter by adding your comments at http://twitter.com/people_eu.

We are looking forward to your participation!
