CIBUS 05 Sub-project was approved under sub-objective nº 5 “Social Entrepreneurship” within PEOPLE European Project. CIBUS aims at increasing local authorities’ capacity to develop tools and mechanisms to support social entrepreneurship and to promote cooperation between the public and private sectors.

CIBUS 05 Sub-project was approved under sub-objective nº 5 “Social Entrepreneurship” within PEOPLE European Project. The partnership is composed by the Andalusia Social Services and Dependency Agency (Spain), as lead partner; West Sussex County Council (UK); Sodërmalm Employment Agency (Sweden) and Andalucía Emprende- Fundación Pública Andaluza (Spain).

CIBUS aims at increasing local authorities' capacity to develop tools and mechanisms to support social entrepreneurship and to promote cooperation between the public and private sectors. The activities developed by partners have been focused on the following priorities:

1. Measurement of the social impact of Social entrepreneurship in society

2. Development of tools that support Social Entrepreneurs

3. Awareness-raising initiatives involving both entrepreneurs and politicians

4. Research initiatives to map the sector and to explore the opportunities of networking through social media

5. Training and capacity-building activities for social entrepreneurs as well as public procurers & commissioners

CIBUS's approach has been to establish Local Expert Groups (LEGs) in each of the regions; LEGs involve actors and stakeholders from the public and private sectors. This Network has facilitated the exchange of experiences among the partnership and has participated in 2 Study visits which have taken place in West Sussex and Stockholm. The objectives of these Study Visits have been to analyse and get to know on the ground existing and successful experiences regarding Social Entrepreneurship.

During the Study Visit in West Sussex, partners had the opportunity to know about the experience of Aldingburne Trust, which is a social enterprise that supports people with learning difficulties to reach their potential across West Sussex. It provides opportunities for day and residential services, training and support to find a job. (http://www.aldingbournetrust.co.uk/)

Regarding the Study Visit that took place in Stockholm last March, partners visited two Social enterprises: SPÅNGA BLÅ BAND (http://www.spangablaband.nu/) , which works with different groups of people socially excluded or at risk of exclusion and Tjuvgods (http://www.tjuvgods.se/) , which is an organization that supports people who want to break from a life of crime, drugs or any other form of alienation.

The CIBUS project was launched on the 1st of January 2010 at the kick off meeting held in Seville, and since then partners have met twice in order to review activities' progress as well as to monitor financial issues.

Currently partners are finalizing their activities and they are about to deliver important products developed during this period:

- Social Impact Measurement Handbook (developed by West Sussex County Council), will be published in June in the PEOPLE website and in the CIBUS platform.

- Toolbox for social enterprises (developed by Stockholm partners). It will be published at http://www.verksamt.se/ and in the PEOPLE website.

- Research “Analysis and Development of social Entrepreneurship in Andalusia” (developed by Andalucía Emprende, fundación Pública Andaluza) http://www.emprende-social.es/?lang=en will also be published in the PEOPLE website.

- Report on “The situation of women in the social enterprise sector in CIBUS regions” (coordinated by Lead Partner with contributions from all partners), will be published in the PEOPLE website and CIBUS platform.

CIBUS 05 Sub-project has an online tool in order to facilitate the exchange of information among professionals participating in the project and to provide access to PEOPLE partners to information about the activities developed, results reached, and important documentation linked to the project.
